#COVIDSECURE Open Expeditions planned for 2021
Choosing an Open Expedition allows candidates the opportunity to join a group of young people to undertake and complete their expedition. This is a great option if you have been unable to complete your expedition with your organisation because of COVID.
East Coast Outdoors takes responsibility for the whole expedition experience under our risk assessments and safe operating procedures. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality experiences from the point of drop off, until the last participant has been collected.
To enable us to provide COVID SECURE safe experiences, participants will sleep in their own tents and cook their own meals. Walking groups will "bubble" together in groups of 5 and expect to follow social distancing regulation's, keeping a meters distance where possible. Masks are optional whilst outside, but must be worn for any indoor training. Participants will be reminded to sanitise through the day, but we expect them to take responsibility for their own hygiene. Hand sanitiser and washing facilities will be made available.
How will groups be formed?
As participants sign up they will be put into "bubbles" to walk together. If you are signing up with a friend let us know and we will "bubble" you in the same group.
Where will I sleep?
Overnight accommodation will be prepositioned, participants will not carry tents as part of their expedition. Each Participant will be provided with a sanitised tent for their personal use. Tents will be kept 2 meters apart.
Will I need to bring my own food?
Yes - you will need enough food for the duration of the expedition. Each participant will be provided with a cooker for their own personal use. Washing facilities are available on the site. There will be access to water. We recommend that food is not shared between participants for hygiene reasons, and with COVID in mind.
