It can seem a bit daunting booking onto an expedition where you might not know anyone, but try not to worry its also a great opportunity to flex your independence and join other young people taking part in a Open Expedition. Lots of our previous participants have made long term friendships, and stay in touch after the expedition has completed.
Young people need to be over the age of 14 and enrolled onto the Award Scheme via eDofE. Once you have booked a spot, a £40 deposit* is payable at the point of booking with the remaining balance payable before the expedition takes place.
If you would like to pay in installments please let us know and we can arrange this. The balance still needs to be cleared before the expedition takes place.
*all out costs our subject to VAT
The cost per person covers qualified staff, training, camping fees, assessor reports and group kit. It does not cover, transport, food or personal kit.
Group kit includes;- Tents, Trangia's, Gas, Maps, Compasses and additional First Aid supplies.
All our equipment is well maintained, repaired and turned around ready for use. We invest heavily in good quality equipment.
Each walking group will also be supplied with a GPS Locator to ensure participant safety and peace of mind for the parent or guardian.
In preparation for the expedition, menu plans, kit lists, medical consent form and an itinerary are provided directly to each participant & parent well in advance of the expedition taking place.
You are encouraged to ask questions about anything your not sure of. Details will be emailed to you after you have booked a spot.
You can always hire good quality personal kit (rucksack, sleeping bag, roll mat & waterproof clothing) directly from us to keep your costs down.
The company carries appropriate Insurance, walking qualifications and an LOtC quality badge, endorsed by the Department for Education, that recognises quality learning and effective risk management.

Unfortunately not - if there is time we may organise a MS TEAMS Meeting.

No, this is an OPEN Expedition so a parent or guardian will need to sign up on your behalf.
Yes - we will require you to complete a new booking form.
There is no need to worry, you are asked to include all medical conditions on the sign up form. Having a medical condition shouldn't be a barrier to taking part. We would encourage you to talk to someone before the expedition, just get in touch by phone or email.
Walking boots are best practice. For the terrain you will be walking in a good pair of walking shoes or sturdy trainers may be adequate. We would always recommend foot wear with ankle support.
Your assessor will complete this and put it directly on your edofe account within 14 working days.
