New freelance staff will be required to:-

As a fully trained and experienced staff member, we expect you to be comfortable with between 10 - 12 participants across 2 walking groups.

Non-Qualified Staff (this includes staff who have completed training but not assessment of a walking qualification) are paid at a daily rate of £120 per day for Bronze expeditions.
Qualified Staff are paid £150 per day (plus an additional payment for assessment) for Bronze & Silver expeditions.
Mountain Leaders (summer or winter) delivering GOLD expedition(s) are paid £180 per day (plus an additional payment for assessment) and travel expenses at £0.45p per mile from their home address.
Further information about our pay rates will be emailed to you on completion of a successful interview.
Yes - if you act as an assessor for us, we pay an additional £20 per day. All assessor reports must be completed and returned within 14 days of the expedition finishing.
Yes - you must have relevant expedition experience and have worked with young people in an outdoor environment. You will be invited to join an expedition, where the Operations Director will shadow you to deem competence in delivery.
We encourage all freelance staff to seek a walking qualification, or complete their assessment. After completion of 10 days work, we offer the Countryside Leader Award to all active (non-qualified) staff at no additional cost.
If your DBS is out of date, we will carry out and pay for an Enhanced DBS check. We will ask you to pay the extra £13 and join the up date service.
We use email, Facebook (private leaders page) and WhatsApp to promote available work. Work is advertised to everyone from September for the following year, work is handed out on a first come - first served basis.
No - our clients some times ask for Friday/Saturday or mid week. This is rare, but not uncommon. The majority of our expeditions happen on a weekend.
No - there is no minimum limit. If you don't help deliver expeditions in a 12 month period you will automatically be removed from our active lists.
London, Essex and East Anglia mostly. Our expeditions take place all over the UK but are mostly based in Norfolk, Suffolk, Epping Forest, Essex Boarder, Surrey, Kent, South & North Downs, Chiltern Hills, Wales, Yorkshire and any where else a client has a preference for.
Yes - you are expected to be present onsite overnight. However, clients take responsibility for student welfare from 7pm - 7am allowing you appropriate rest.
Yes of course, everyone is welcome and everyone brings their own skills and knowledge.
No - we keep this information private until 2 weeks before the expedition is due to go ahead. You will be informed of dates, start times and area well ahead of the event taking place.
Our Expedition Managers are reliable, experienced frequent flyers. They hold a walking qualification and have plenty of relevant leadership experience on the ground. They are invited to take up the post by the Operations Director.
